Morgan († 1743) was one of the most radical early deists. His main work is based on the five »notiones communes» by Herbert von Cherbury and expresses a harsh criticism of historical religions, in particular of biblical tradition. For him, the only way to combat the superstition of the Christian religion was with the help of reason and tolerance.
