Ronda Goyesca

von

Goyescas is the new work of Spanish photographer Aitor Lara ( 1974), documenting the spectacular ‘Corrida Goyesca’, a unique and mytical bullfight that takes place once a year in the andalusian city of Ronda, the oldest bullfighting ring in Spain. Lara’s camera shows all the aspects of this fascinating athmosphere, where bullfighters and public are, in identical degrees, part of the show. Aitor Lara has a background in Philisophy. In 1999 he received the photography prize from the gallerist Juana de Aizpuru, and during various years participated with this gallery in international photography fairs such as ARCO and ParisPhoto. In 2004 he received a research scholarship from Casa Asia’s Ruy de Clavijo program of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain to carry out a project in Uzbekistan. He then pubished this work as a book called Tower of Silence in 2008. In the same year he also published the book Maestranza, a photographic report about the bullring of Seville. This work now is exhibited in large format in the fascade of the FNAC building in the city center of Seville.
