Albert Renger-Patzsch zählt zu den Pionieren der modernen Fotografie und zu den bedeutendsten Industriefotografen des 20. Jahrhunderts. Seine Arbeit für das Jenaer Glaswerk Schott & Gen. begann 1936 und setzte sich 1954 im SCHOTT Werk in Mainz und ab 1956 auch im SCHOTT Tochterunternehmen in Grünenplan fort. Der vorliegende Band enthält 60 bisher teilweise unveröffentlichte Aufnahmen, nach Handabzügen des Fotografen, sowie Beiträge zu Entstehungsgeschichte und zur fototechnischen und mediengeschichtlichen Bedeutung seines Werks.

Albert Renger-Patzsch is one of the pioneers of modern photography and one of the most prominent industrial photographers of the 20th century. He began working for the Jena Glassworks Schott & Associates in 1936 and resumed his work for SCHOTT in Mainz in 1954. From 1956 onwards he photographed at the SCHOTT subsidiary in Grünenplan. The present catalogue comprises 60 copies of the photographer’s original prints, some of which are previously unpublished, as well as articles on their history and the photo-technical and media-historical importance of his oeuvre.
