Anselm Kiefer. Sculpture and Painting. From the Hall Collection

von ,

Anselm Kiefer creates works of art that evoke tragedy and spirituality for a generation that would perhaps prefer to ignore the past and the lessons it holds. Visually stunning, Kiefer’s work is at the locus of historical confrontation and allegorical redemption.

A collaborative endeavor between Derneberg Publications, the Hall Collection and MASS MoCA this catalogue presents a selection of works from the Hall Collection spanning from the ‘80’s to 2006, which will be on view at MASS MoCA from October 2007 through June 2009. The images include 14 individual plates as well as installation views of the exhibition, and comprehensive details of works. A thoughtful forward by Joseph Thompson, Director of MASS MoCA, presents Kiefer’s work as both passionate and cautionary, while art historian Mark Rosenthal’s essay likens Kiefer’s works to the tomes of a war poet.
