Following on from Lieutenant Gustl, the second volume of the historical-critical edition of Arthur Schnitzler’s early work presents Anatol. This volume contains the facsimiles of the manuscripts of the seven one-act plays, a precise transcription and a reading text illuminated by editorial apparatus, a literary commentary and an extensive survey of the editions. It also contains various texts, some previously unpublished, that relate to the creation of the work.
