Vajiko Chachkhiani’s art touches upon life’s existential questions. His sculptures, installations, and performances raise questions about human nature and the history and conflicts connected to it. Traces of activities and changes through time are visualized emphatically using materials such as traded personal effects, wax, or water. Chachkhiani’s work is persuasive because of its incomparable interpenetration of various artistic media. This publication accompanied his exhibition Both at Museum for Contemporary Art in Siegen in conjunction with the Rubens Prize awarded in 2014. By numbering the chapter from 1 to 10 and then repeat chapter 1, the book reflects the circular course of exhibition rooms. Loose pages with poems intensify the personal approach Chachkhiani has to the book.
