Fantasy and surrealism in the Graphic Arts and Photography

The artistic sensitivity and the surrealistic procedures directed the gaze to a long tradition of subjectivity, the one which goes from the late Medievo to the Modernism through Mannerism and Baroque. This book, that coincides with Madrid Juan March Foundation exhibition, contains more than 200 drawings, etchings, photos, books and magazines, and goes from late Medievo to Surrealism. In collaboration with Germanisches Nationalmuseum de Núremberg and curated by Yasmin Doosry, it presents, among others, works by Martin Schongauer, Alberto Durero, Erhard Schön, Matthias Zündt,Wenzel Jamnitzer, Hendrick Goltzius, Jaques Callot, Giovanni Battista Piranesi, Francisco de Goya, Max Klinger, Alfred Kubin, Paul Klee, HannahHöch, Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Salvador Dalí, Herbert Bayer, Hans Bellmer,André Masson, Brassaï and Maurice Tabard. An exhibition which follows the tracks of the legendary showing called „Fantastic Art, Dada, Surrealism“, organized 75 years ago by Afred H. Barr -then, The Museum of Modern Art director-.
