Since DETAIL was established, its editors have conducted countless conversations with architects and engineers from around the world, from interviews with top international architects to conversations with young, up-and-coming architecture firms.

This book presents a selection of the most interesting interviews of the recent years in one volume: Twelve renowned architects from all over the world – including Santiago Calatrava, Reinier de Graaf (OMA), Toyo Ito, Eduardo Souto de Moura, Álvaro Siza and José Selgas (SelgasCano) – talk about what inspires them, the philosophy behind their architecture, how they work with materials and form, and the realities of implementing their designs.
