Dinosaurs – the largest and most spectacular creatures that ever walked on Earth. Two global catastrophes accompanied the rise and fall of these giant reptiles. At the beginning of the Mesozoic Era, 250 million years ago, the amphibians lost their hard-shelled eggs. Within a short time reptiles conquered all habitats. For millions of years they even dominated the sky. An asteroid impact terminated the era of the reptiles 65 million years ago with a massive inferno. Following this cataclysmic event, the era of birds and mammals began, animals which, until then, had lived in the shadow of these giants.
