Paintings in Museums presents a systematic index of the entire holdings of works, both on display and in deposits, owned by over645 museums in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. This edition, recording some 36,000 paintings, 8,600 artists and100 museums more than its predecessor, is also the first one to incorporate museums in Austria and Switzerland. Paintings in Museums allows users to locate paintings, pastels, gouaches, as well as mixed-media works from all ages, genres and styles – a total of more than 178,000 paintings by some 31,200 artists.
