The book Berlin – The 80s & Early Works documents the evolution of Middendorf’s large-scale paintings in a concentrated selection of outstanding images: from the first exhibitions in the legendary gallery in Berlin’s Moritzplatz at the end of the 1970s to the international exhibitions of the 1980s. Some of the images in this volume appear for the first time in print. Extracts from Middendorf’s photo archive supplement the illustrated volume and provide a clear picture of the atmosphere and the urban Berlin and New York environment in which Middendorf’s painting emerged.
