Delicate colours, fine lines, and natural forms define the painterly and graphic work of the Berlin artist Herta Müller (b. 1955). The current publication addresses works that have been created since 2009 and, like her earlier drawings and watercolours, inspired by her summer sojourns in northern Italy. Herta Müller translates her visual impressions of the semblance of light, reflections in water, bleached boulders, and colourful shadows into sensitive poetic painting. In doing so she creates works of impressive atmospheric depth that intuitively bridge abstract and representational painting.
