Artistic projects have been developed in and for the public sphere of Lower Austria since the 1980s. The artworks here range from autonomous sculptures to street furniture to temporary contextualizations and communicative inventions, designs for plazas, concepts for memorials and art works carried out in collaboration with the public. This volume includes comprehensive documentation of the Kunst im öffentlichen Raum NÖ public art projects carried out in Lower Austria between 2011 and 2013. 18 temporary and 12 permanent pieces, performances and installations are illustrated and elucidated by way of extensive visual material and select texts by renowned art and culture critics. It includes a directory of the participating artists, sit maps and wide-ranging background information on the individual projects.
