No. 245 Sharing – Vom Ich zum Wir

We had the “Me” generation, is it time now for the sharers and the carers? In this issue we look at the pros and cons of open source design, the flawed business of charity and design for developing countries; emerging “global communities” and “crowd” strategies of do-it-yourself production, fund raising and distribution, for example Beck releasing his new album “Song Reader” in the form of sheet music only or the phenomenal media success of Kickstarter. There are also new forms of virtual and shared workspaces for mobile office nomads and we take a look at the flip side of sharing and whether copying and stealing can still be considered crimes in today’s post-, postmodern design world.
