Communicating information, functions, atmospheres or values is not just at the heart of what communication designers do; it is also a process that is central to design per se. Interdisciplinary teams have to communicate with each other during the
development process just as actively as do designers and clients, design teachers and students, objects and their users, or – in museums – design as a discipline and the public at large. In the forthcoming issue, we will therefore be examining how and by whom design is communicated and design’s role in the communication process. Our Discourse section will take a closer look at the Anthropocene, a term that for some time now has been used to describe a new geological era in which human activity is the most important geological factor. We will also be presenting the studio of Jin Dallae and Park Woohyuk, two graphic designers from South Korea.
