Depicting society today and developing three-dimensional images in the process is the sculptural mission of artist Olaf Metzel. The desire to give shape to our time, to create visibility for current topics and thus to promt a confrontation with presently important socio-cultural issues is at the heart of his work.
„dermaßen regiert zu werden“ („being governed like that“, 2015) is the name of a new work, which alongside other large installations presents the highly varied oeuvre of this sculptor. In the piece, a social panorama peppered with moments in time opens before us, aesthetically capturing our era and, moreover, current discourse.
