The issues of subjectivity and transcendence are central to modern thought. Indeed, for post-Cartesian philosophy and theology, it is a fundamental problem how one can have a strong conception of both subjectivity and transcendence. This book, however, is the first to make these intertwined issues the object of detailed and multifaceted discussion. The contributors discuss subjectivity and transcendence from a variety of different perspectives, including historical, philosophical, theological, and psychopathological. Thereby they circumscribe as well as traverse the field of problems indicated in the title Subjectivity and Transcendence.
