Cristina García Rodero

von

In Transtempo, Cristina García Rodero presents over one hundred photographs made in Galicia during three decades of trips through various zones: carnivals in Laza, Xinzo de Limia and Viana do Bolo; the Vikings landing in Catoira; the “rapa das bestas” in Sabucedo, processions, pilgrimages, open-air festivities and offerings are some of the subjects that the photographer addresses with her usual intensity and sobriety.
García Rodero is the first Spanish woman photographer to become a member of Magnum and here, after an exhaustive work of selection, she offers the images she captured between 1974 and 2010, which show the essence of her trips through Galicia: popular, religious and pagan festivities, rituals that define a specific sociological landscape. With a prologue by the Galician author Manuel Rivas, the book contains essays by the director of the CGAC, Miguel Von Hafe, and the curator Rosa Martínez.
