Weam Namou migrated from Iraq to the United States at age ten. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Wayne State University, studied poetry in Prague, screenwriting at the Motion Picture Institute of Michigan and fiction and memoir writing through various correspondence courses. Her novels, poetry and nonfiction books weave stories of her ancient Chaldean (Christian Iraqi) tribal upbringing with her modern western world. Her essays, articles and poetry have appeared in national and international publications.
Namou is an award-winning author of 9 books and the president of IAA (Iraqi Artists Association). She is a recent graduate of Lynn Andrews’ 4-year shamanic school and is currently working on a memoir series about her experience in this school.
