was born in Stuttgart in 1949. He came to Berlin as an academic assistant for literature, was managing director of the Berlin literary association “Literarisches Colloquium”, secretary in the Literature department of the Berlin Academy of the Arts, and director of its archive from 1987 to 2015. Since 2015, he has been chairman of the Working Group of Independent Cultural Institutes (AsKI).
